October is breast cancer awareness month and I have known so many mothers, grandmothers, aunts, daughters, sisters and friends affected by this disease. It has affected my own family.
My aunt Pam courageously fought and won her fight against breast cancer in 2009. I was absolutely terrified and in denial for a while after she was diagnosed. She went through a double mastectomy and chemo and lost all of her beautiful hair but she fought hard. She’s always been one of my favorite people in the world. As a child everyone thought I was her baby because I favor her so much (she’s my dads sister) and I always loved her sense of humor and no nonsense approach to life. She’s an incredibly special woman! I am so thankful she is alive and well! I love her so much!
As we celebrate survivors, mourn those we’ve lost and fight continuously in the hope of finding a cure, pink nail polish will be on my nails all month!
