This evening, Us Weekly confirmed that after a seemingly whirlwind romance, Annie and Sex Tape star, Cameron Diaz and Good Charlotte member, Benji Madden have tied the knot in an intimate yet star-studded affair at Cameron’s Beverly Hills home. A number of celebrity well-wishers turned out for their wedding, a line-up that included Reese Witherspoon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Samantha Ronson and Robin Antin. BFFs-turned-bridesmaids Nicole Richie, Drew Barrymore, her sister Chimene and assistant Jesse Lutz accompanied Cameron on the big day while Benji’s nephew, Joel Madden and Nicole Richie’s son, Sparrow served as the ring bearer.
The event was orchestrated by wedding planners Yifat Oren and Stefanie Cove and featured flowers from The Velvet Garden — all companies used by Diaz’s longtime bestie and Charlie’s Angels costar Barrymore in her June 2012 wedding to Will Kopelman.
The marriage may come as a surprise to some Diaz fans that may recall her previous public thoughts on marriage including this quote taken from UK’s Stylist magazine in July 2010:
“I think the big misconception in our society is that we’re supposed to meet the one when we’re 18, and we’re supposed to get married to them and love them for the rest of our lives. Bulls—t.”
Us Weekly broke the news of the couple’s engagement on Dec. 19 after they had been dating for seven months. This is the first marriage for both of them, and a great reminder for all of us that sometimes when you meet someone you just know they’re going to change your life in a big way.
We’re thrilled that Cameron and Benji have finally found their happily ever after, and hope they’ll be celebrating many anniversaries to come!
