Freakout Friday: Paper Towns Movie Review!
So, you’re finally planning your big day after years of dreaming about it! Wedding dress appointments, cake testings, venue tours, and other events are in your near future- and so is a tremendous amount of stress. And along with stress comes not so dreamy side effects including weight gain, hair loss, and even acne. So what can you do to prevent these pre-marital horrors? Relax! This week, we suggest attending a movie. Our movie of choice is “Paper Towns”, a film based on the popular John Green novel. Sound familiar? He also wrote the book The Fault In Our Stars which was converted into a movie that won MTV’s award for Best Movie.
Paper Towns is definitely one of those movies that keeps you on the edge of your seat. It all begins when Quentin meets his new neighbor, Margo Roth Spiegelman. They grow up as friends, but end up drifting apart by the time high school rolls around. Margo quickly becomes popular because she is not like the typical high school girl, and Quentin falls in love with her from a distance; as did a half of their high school. One night, Margo knocks on Quentin’s window, and they spend the entire night seeking revenge on Margo’s recent ex who cheated on her. The next day, she disappears.
“She loved mysteries so much that she became one,” Quentin said in a voice over as he begins to ponder what happened to Margo. He ends up gathering clues, rounding up his friends, and going on the adventure of a lifetime trying desperately to find her. What happens next? You will just have to find out yourself! I found that the movie was exactly how I pictured the book- it was eloquently written, directed, and produced which made me love every second of it!
