Today we get to bring to you a special treat! This amazing Great Gatsby Vintage Inspired Shoot is showcased beautifully by the photographer, Amber Hempen
and her team of talented vendors. It was the incredible vintage props, exquisite bridal attire and a real-life romance that made this shoot in movie inspired shoot come to life!
The Vintage Era, especially the 1920’s, has always been a favorite of mine so when the movie “The Great Gatsby” was released I went to see it with a good friend and fellow photographer, Lindsey. Seeing the movie inspired me to dream big and step outside of the box in terms of my photography.
Rewind for just a moment: In high school, I got to go see “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” where Nicole Kidman was a guest and they brought out Baz Luhrmann as a special guest. For those who don’t know, Buz Luhrmann co-wrote and directed the movie “The Great Gatsby”.
Back to the present: In June I decided that I wanted to do something spectacular for my 29th birthday. I wanted to combine my love for the movies and photography into something that would be epic. I reached out to my network of friends and fellow wedding vendors who LOVED the idea.
From a thought to a reality… By the end of June, I had a real-life husband and wife team to be my models (who happens to also be my friend Lindsey and fellow photographer). a sexy tux, an amazing hair & makeup artist, a venue that is to die for, flowers that screamed classy, a whole set designed by a crazy talented design team, a cake straight from Gatsby Era, and the perfect car.
The day of the shoot was 95 degrees and we were melting. My team was amazing, they worked through the heat and dehydration. I could feel the real-life romance that the couple brought to the set. Not only was the Gatsby photo shoot was about being creative and making magic, it was about networking and teamwork. I would not have been able to capture these amazing photos without the hard work and support of my wonderful team.
Real-life husband and wife, Mitchell and Lindsey, were dressed to impress. Lindsey wore a sleeveless bridal gown with lace embellishments and a tiered skirt. Her hair was styled in an updo with a piled up curl low bun adorned with a headpiece and jewels. Mitchell looked dashing in a sexy tuxedo and bow tie.
The beautiful vintage inspired bouquet was created with classy peach florals and the softest yellows and ivory blooms and feathers.
